FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Saint Mary's women's basketball team will make its ninth straight postseason appearance and 13th in program history Thursday when it opens play in the 2018 Women's National Invitational Tournament at Mountain West Conference member New Mexico, as the 2018 field and bracket was announced Monday night.

The Gaels (20-10, 13-5 West Coast Conference) will travel to play the Lobos (23-10, 10-8 Mountain West Conference) in a first-round battle Thursday at the Johnson Center on the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque, N.M. The start time for the game is still to be announced. It will be the first time the two teams face each other since the 1996-97 season.

Saint Mary's earned an automatic bid to the 2018 WNIT thanks to their third straight runner-up finish in the WCC. SMC fell short of qualifying for the 2018 NCAA Tournament after falling to Pacific in the WCC Championship Tournament quarterfinals on March 2. New Mexico was an at-large selection to the tournament after going 23-10 overall and finishing sixth in the Mountain West.

More details about the game, including start time, coverage, tickets, and more, will be available on SMCGaels.com and on social media at @SMCGaels.
