MORAGA, Calif. —’s countdown to the 2017-18 women’s basketball season continues with a look at the three Gaels who earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors last year:

1. Devon Brookshire, 4.00 in Graduate Kinesiology

Now-departed senior Devon Brookshire carried a perfect 4.00 Grade Point Average last season in the Saint Mary’s Graduate Kinesiology program. She had the highest GPA of all 10 players featured on the 2016-17 WCC All-Academic team. It was her second year in a row landing on the WCC All-Academic team after also doing so in 2015-16. Brookshire appeared in all 33 games for the Gaels last year. She averaged 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while totaling 27 assists and shooting 84.5 percent from the free-throw line.

2. Stella Beck, 3.57 in Psychology

Stella Beck also earned her second straight nod on the WCC All-Academic Team in 2016-17. Her psychology major is focused in neuroscience, where she carried a 3.57 GPA. She finished the year as the Gaels’ leading scorer (13.0 ppg), passer (3.2 assists per game) and defender (48 steals) while shooting 54.6 percent from the floor – second-best in the WCC. She returns in 2017-18 as a Preseason All-WCC honoree after earning first team All-WCC last year.

3. Carly Turner, 3.54 in Business

Carly Turner’s academics were also honored for the second straight year in 2016-17. For the second consecutive time, Turner ended up on the WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention list with her 3.54 GPA in business. She was one of the top-five 3-point shooters in the conference last year at 38.0 percent. She had two 20-point performances and 13 double-figure scoring games last year.
