ROW | Gaels Advance to Grand Finals in Rancho Cordova

April 29, 2017 RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — With day one of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in the books, the Saint Mary's rowing team advances to the grand finals on Sunday.

The Gaels raced for lanes in all heats and thus will race again tomorrow. The first varsity eight boat started the day off for Saint Mary's grabbing a fifth place finish in six minutes, 58.036 seconds. The second varsity eight boat finished fifth in their heat in 6:58.292 beating out Sacramento State by less than a second. The two varsity four boats finished out the day racing in the same heat. The first varsity four boat finished third in 7:48.003 setting a school record for fastest time in school history and beating out Sacramento State's B boat. The second varsity four boat finished in fifth place with a time of 8:09.671 and just ahead of Santa Clara.
