MORAGA, Calif. -- Saint Mary's women's soccer will have two new faces on the coaching staff as Chris Brown and Kacey Bingham will join head coach Travis Clarke for the 2018 season, the program announced.

Brown is a familiar face in Moraga as he spent six years as the associate head coach for the men's program. During his time under current men's head coach Adam Cooper, Brown focused on goalkeeping and was heavily involved in recruiting. Brown was part of the 2011 squad that claimed the program's first and only West Coast Conference Championship, and advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Championship.

"I am thrilled to be back coaching at Saint Mary's," said Brown. "I am extremely excited for the opportunity and the challenge to now work on the women's side. I look forward to working with Travis [Clarke], the staff and the players. Being around the group in this short period, I am inspired by there competitiveness, work ethic and talent."

"I believe this team has a bright future and I can not wait to get started this spring as we prepare to compete for a WCC Championship."

During his time on the men's side at SMC, Brown helped produce All-Conference keepers in five out of six years, highlighted by Andre Rawls becoming the first Gael in program history drafted in the Major League Soccer Superdraft.

"I have known Chris for a while and really enjoyed my time around him while he was working with the men's program here at SMC," said Clarke. "He is a very good coach who brings a lot to the table. I think he will have a big impact on the development of our young goalkeepers, the overall competitive atmosphere of our program and recruiting."

Hailing from Dixie State where she recorded a 51-33-3 overall record, Kacey Bingham will offer outstanding experience as the new assistant coach for the Gaels.

"I am honored and extremely grateful to join the Saint Mary's coaching staff," said Bingham. I am excited to be a part of a program with such an amazing support system and the ability to compete at the highest level."

"I would like to thank Coach Clarke and the athletic administration for bringing me on board. This is an incredible opportunity and I very much look forward to working with a great coaching staff, team and community."

During her time at Dixie State, Bingham coached two Division II All-Americans and had the Pacwest Player of the Year and Defender of the Year in 2017. Just the second head coach of the NCAA-era for Trailblazers, Bingham had 21 players earn All-Pacwest Conference honors.

"Kacey is someone I have known since my time at Cal State San Bernardino," stated Clarke. "She has head coaching experience at the high school, JC and NCAA DII levels and that will be a big benefit for us as she will understand the importance of all aspects of our program."

Bingham previously held a position on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee and spent six seasons as head coach of the Paradise Valley Junior College. During her time at Paradise Valley, Bingham won two NJCAA National Championships (2010 and 2012). In 2010, Bingham and the program went an undefeated 24-0, while in 2012, they went 22-0-2.

"As a head coach, she has a lot of experience and has won multiple national championships at Paradise Valley Junior College," said Clarke. "When we had her on campus, what came out the most is how competitive she is and how her drive to be successful will radiate to all levels of our program."
