2018 Schedule

MORAGA, Calif. -- Headlined by five participants who advanced to last year’s postseason, and eight teams that finished inside the top-100 RPI, Saint Mary’s softball will face a challenging slate of opponents during the 2018 campaign, head coach Jessica Rodgers announced.

The Gaels will compete in five strong tournaments that include several powerhouse opponents - Arizona State’s Kajikawa Tournament, Fresno State’s Bulldog Classic, the UC Riverside Tournament, New Mexico’s Lobo Classic and UC Santa Barbara’s Gaucho Classic.

“We are very excited to get back as a team, and get back onto the field to prepare for our upcoming season,” said Rodgers who enters her 13th season at the helm for the Gaels.

SMC will face a handful of teams who competed in the 2017 postseason. The Gaels and Notre Dame will face off for one game on opening day at the Kajikawa Tournament down in Tempe, Ariz. Saint Mary’s and Super Regional participant Utah are scheduled for a one game showdown on Feb. 11.

The Gaels and Fresno State will play two games during the two day Bulldog Classic from Feb. 17-18.
Saint Mary’s and East Bay rival Cal are slated for an inner season home-and-home, as the Gaels host the Golden Bears on Feb. 21 for a 3 p.m. contest. SMC will return the favor at Levine-Fricke Field on April 4.

“Our non-conference schedule is strong and should prepare us well for a great run for a conference championship,” stated Rodgers.

The Gaels will play a three-game conference series at BYU from April 27-28 for the much anticipated West Coast Conference battle. Loyola Marymount will visit Cottrell Field on April 14-15, while Pacific will round out the home schedule for the Gaels on May 5-6.

In all, 15 home games will be played at Cottrell Field in 2018. The Gaels are scheduled to play six straight home contests in February, as they host Cal (Feb. 21), CSU Bakersfield for a three-game series during Feb. 24-25 and a doubleheader against UC Davis on Feb. 28.
