May 16, 2017 SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced their 2017 All-WCC awards on Tuesday with a lineup that featured five Gaels, led by freshman Nikki Alexander.

Alexander was given First Team All-WCC honors after an incredible freshman campaign where she finished sixth in the conference in batting average (.355) and fourth in on-base percentage (.452). The Modesto, Calif. native also led the Gaels in most major offensive categories including hits, slugging percentage, runs scored, walks and triples, and ranked second in runs batted in, doubles, and total bases.

Katie Moss and Hailey Sparacino each were named to the Second Team All-WCC after stellar seasons. Moss ranked as one of the best pitchers in the conference, finishing fifth in ERA (2.53), fourth in opposing batting average (.225), second in innings pitched (152.1), and second in strikeouts (147). The senior also led the Gaels with nine wins and two saves during the season. Sparacino was a major part of the SMC offense as she batted .285 and had 41 hits in 2017. The junior shortstop led the team in doubles (13) and runs batted in (28) and was also second in home runs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.
