The Saint Mary's women's tennis team continues to impress inside the classroom with four earning All-Academic honors.

Saint Mary's came from behind to defeat the Cougars Thursday afternoon at the WCC Championships.
Saint Mary's and BYU will face each other for the second time in less than a week to open the West Coast Conference tournament.
Saint Mary's four match win streak came to an end Saturday as the Gaels will wait for their final seed for next week's West Coast Conference Championship.

AS A JUNIOR (2016-17): Lead all Gael players with 24 wins during the season...went 13-6 in doubles play and 11-10 in singles...dominated conference play with an 11-3 record split between singles and doubles...played mainly as the Gaels' No. 4 singles player and went 9-4 from that position...recognized as a WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention...recorded four consecutive singles victories during the month of March...was 9-1 in doubles action to finish the season...was edged 5-7 against No. 7 Vanderbilt in doubles...posted singles wins against conference opponents in LMU, USF, San Diego, Portland, and Pacific.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-16): At the Cal Nike Invitational, Manji picked up wins in both singles and doubles and set a theme for the remainder of the season ... she picked up double digit wins in both singles and doubles play over the course of her sophomore campaign... as a singles player went 10-4 overall and 7-0 against West Coast Conference opponents... won her last eight singles matches including a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Zeina El Tawil from No. 75 ranked Santa Clara ... in doubles Majni played best aside teammate Parminder Kaur as the two Gaels went 10-3 together .... combined between singles and doubles play, Manji wreaked havoc on the WCC as she went 15-1 overall in conference play.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014-15): Wasted no time establishing herself as a key competitor for the Gaels, winning the ITA Gold singles title at the Cal Nike Invitational in her first collegiate tournament ... earned her first collegiate win over Fresno State's Anne Susdorf, then beat Cal Poly's Molly Reed, USF's Marina Nikolic, UC Davis' Layla Sanders and finally Cal's Cecilia Estlander to win the title ... won her first two matches at the ITA Northwest Regional at Stanford ... also won a match at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational ... enjoyed one of the best freshman campaigns in SMC tennis history, going a perfect 9-0 in West Coast Conference play en route to a 19-5 overall record in singles and a spot on the All-WCC honorable mention list ... was just as good in doubles, going 8-0 in WCC play with partner Jamie Pawid and earning All-WCC second team honors ... played mostly No. 5 singles throughout the season and didn't lose from Feb. 21 on, a string of 13 straight wins to close the year ... only needed three sets five times throughout the season, winning 14 matches in straight sets, but was perfect when extra time was needed, going 5-0 in three-set matches ... clinched SMC's biggest win of the year, beating No. 18 Pepperdine's Michaela Capannolo 6-0, 4-6, 6-0 to score the fourth point in a 6-1 Gaels victory ... finished the year on an equally impressive roll in doubles as she teamed with Pawid to win 10 of their last 11 matches ... finished the year 17-7 in doubles play but went 15-4 with Pawid ... named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll Bronze list for carrying a GPA between 3.00 and 3.49.
PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: Joined the Gaels as a freshman for the 2014-15 season with a standout resume from high school and youth play ... a 5-foot-8 native of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Manji was ranked as high as No. 50 in the nation in Girls 18s, and was ranked as the No. 33 recruit in the country by TennisRecruiting.net ... was a top 25 Girls 18s player in Southern California, and was also ranked in the Top 20 of Women's Open play in the region ... at Thousand Oaks High, Manji won the Marmonte League doubles title in both her sophomore and junior years and earned first-team singles honors both seasons as well.
