WTEN | Gaels Fall to No. 13 UCLA

Feb. 2, 2018

LOS ANGELES — Saint Mary’s women’s tennis (0-3) forced close matches Friday afternoon, but could not overcome nationally-ranked No. 13 UCLA (4-0) as the Bruins came out on top over the Gaels, 4-0.

Clementine Clement was locked in an unfinished battle on court 2, as the junior went the distance against Terri Fleming. Clement cruised through the first set, 6-2, but Fleming equaled the match after claiming the second set.

Senior Emma Critser and freshman Aubane Ville also had their singles contests unfinished. Facing the 46th-ranked singles player in division I tennis, Critser was on-serve in the second set at four-all.

The Gaels will travel to Long Beach State for an 11 a.m. contest against the 49ers on Saturday, Feb. 3.
