WTEN | Gaels Power Past Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Saint Mary’s women’s tennis (1-3) captured its first victory of the dual season after rolling through Long Beach State (1-1) Saturday afternoon at Rhodes Tennis Center.

The Gaels claimed the important doubles point with convincing wins on courts 1 and 3. Saint Mary’s carried over the strong performance into the singles contests, as SMC won four out of the six singles matches.

Freshman Hind Abdelouahid delivered her first win in singles competition with a three-set victory on court 2. Fellow first year player Aubane Ville captured a straight-set over Georgia Gulin on court 6.

Senior Kareena Manji also prevailed in a tough three-setter on court 4. Manji pulled away in the third set en route to the 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 victory.

The Gaels return to action on Feb. 9 at Stanford for a 1:30 p.m. match.
