WTEN | Gaels Fall at No. 1 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. — Saint Mary’s women’s tennis (1-4) battled No. 1 Stanford (2-1) in a Friday afternoon match, but fell to the Cardinal at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Gaels return to action on Feb. 11 at Fresno State for a 10 a.m. first serve.

The No. 51 duo of Hind Abdelouahid and Mariia Kozyreva went game for game against No. 6 Arbuthnott and Gordon for Stanford. The doubles match went unfinished as the Cardinal won the doubles point.

Senior Vanessa Nommensen had a three-setter on court 6. Nommensen claimed the first set 6-0, but a strong comeback by Kimberly Yee clinched the day’s final match.
