WTEN | Gaels Open Strong at ITA Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team returned to the courts today, and won three matches on the first day of the ITA Northwest Regionals at the Taube Family Tennis Center on Thursday.

The final draw and results can be found on the tournament site HERE. Friday’s action will continue at 9 a.m. with the Round of 32 in doubles action.

The Gaels are one of 18 teams in this year’s solid field. Freshman Mariia Kozyreva continued her impressive start to her career, defeating Vivian Glozman of Cal in straight sets.

SMC proved to be top contenders in the doubles bracket, as two teams advanced to the Round of 32. Freshmen duo of Kozyreva and Aubane Ville had a bye in today’s opening round, while Emma Critser and Kareena Manji found their groove in a 8-3 victory.
