Nov. 17, 2017

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary’s women’s tennis has announced the signing of another talented prospect in Jordan Harris, head coach Simon Harston announced today.

A native of Harbor City, Calif., Harris has tremendous experience in the International Tennis Federation. Her first victory on the ITF Tour came at the T.I.H.T.A Aruba International Tennis Tournament in 2015. She claimed victory in the U-18 Singles bracket, and reached the finals in the doubles bracket.

Her international experience carried over to the VII Copa Arabe International ITF Tournament in Honduras, where she was a finalist in the 2016 U-18 singles bracket. She also won the 2016 U-18 doubles championship at the Copa Universidad Galileo in Guatemala.

“We are excited to have Jordan be a part of this program,” said Harston. “She brings great talent and will help us in the future.”

Aside from tennis, Harris also competed in youth soccer and plans to major in math or computer science.

She was heavily recruited by Cal State Fullerton, Washington State, Hawaii and Rutgers.

“Saint Mary’s has an amazing campus set in beautiful Northern California,” said Harris on why she ultimately chose Saint Mary’s. “I am interested in obtaining an education of the highest quality while playing on a competitive team like the Gaels.”

She plans on pursuing her dream of playing on the WTA and eventually pursuing a career in one of the National Services Agencies that focus on law enforcement and counterintelligence.
